LAYING THE FOUNDATION TONIC

Every day. For 100 days. First thing in the morning, takes about 10 minutes, including the time it takes to rinse out the blender.

8 oz. Distilled Water (I normally heat it up, but it's optional)
1 tsp. Organic Maca powder
1/2 tsp. Spirulina powder
2 grams Dragon Herbs Schizandra e-Tee
3 droppers full Dragon Herbs Wild Reishi
3 droppers full Dragon Herbs House Ginseng
8 oz. Goodbelly Juice Probiotic
Blendtech Blender (other blenders work too!)

Step 1 : Put Maca, Spirulina, Reishi and Ginseng in blender.
Step 2 : Add Distilled Water
Step 3 : Hit the Whole Juice button
Step 4 : Pour Goodbelly into glass while blender is going.

This informative seminar is a great first step to using foods already in your refrigerator for specific conditions and diseases. Based on the Naturopathic Medicine, Chinese Taoist Nutrition and Ayurvedic Principles, we will explore the different ways you can mindfully eat to improve your health and maintain wellness!

The seminar is divided into two parts:

- a food healing lecture exploring different aspects of our environment, nutrition, and their relationships to some of the most prevalent diseases we are encountering today.

- a demonstration of the uses of some of the most common food items found in your local grocery's produce section and a sampling of a couple of delicious smoothies that allow for easy incorporation of specific foods for specific conditions.

For ingredients, intend on buying organic when possible.

EASY STEEL-CUT OATMEAL BREAKFAST

This recipe is extremely healing and filling at the same time, giving your body a fiber boost for your fist meal. The raisins provide a great sweetness and is a great source of vitamins. The goji berries are good for its high phytochemical and vitamin content. The walnuts are good for brain function and has a high content of essential fats for the body. Cinammon is good for balancing your blood sugar and is a good source of chromium. Steel cut oatmeal takes time, so you can pre-make enough for a few days, and store it in the fridge.

4 cups distilled water
1 cup steel cut oats, as prepared below
Handful of raisins
Handful of raw walnuts
Handful of goji berries
Dash of cinnamon
Almon Milk (to taste)

Step 1 : Pour 4 cups of distilled water into a pot
Step 2 : Add 1 cup steel cut oats
Step 3 : If preparing the night before, simmer 1 minute. Cover pot and store overnight in the refrigerator. If preparing the same day, bring to a boil, then simmer in really low heat for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally
Step 4 : If cooking pre-made refrigerated version, take the portion you want to eat, then cook in almond milk for 9-12 minutes (for thicker oatmeal, add less almond milk). If preparing the same day, add almond milk and continue simmering for 10 more minutes
Step 5 : On top of your oatmeal, add raisins, goji berries, walnuts and cinnamon. Enjoy!

9-CLOVE HEALING PESTO

This recipe is so easy to make, with total preparation time of 10 minutes. This pesto can easily be used as a dip and is a great way to have raw spinach. Using less garlic will improve your love life, but will be less effective on your health.

9 cloves garlic, peeled
3 large stalks of basil
1/2 bag of Trader Joe's Organic Baby Spinach
large handful of roasted almonds (raw is also okay)
olive oil (enough to cover the blades of the blender)
sea salt (to taste)

Step 1 : Pour olive oil into blender
Step 2 : Place all other ingredients into blender, leaving almonds for last
Step 3 : Pulse a few times until ingredients are finely chopped and combined. If you want a creamier pesto, blend ingredients in one smoothie setting.
Step 4 : Be prepared to do the pesto dance!

BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP

Another recipe that is so easy to make, with total preparation time of 5 minutes and cooking time of 60 minutes with minimal attention. It combines various food items that regulate digestion and warm the body. This soup is great to serve during the winter months (or any months, in my book).

half gallon distilled water
1 medium butternut squash
3 - 5 cloves garlic
1 large onion
sea salt (to taste)
3 cloves cardamom
dill (a few dashes)
oregano (a few dashes)
cashews (a handful, if you prefer a creamy soup)
2-3 spring onion stalks (for garnish)

Step 1 : Cut butternut squash into large cubes, removing only the stem on top but leaving skin and seeds.
Step 2 : Dice up garlic and leave for a few minutes to allow the nutrients to synthesize.
Step 3 : Cut onion into large slices.
Step 4 : Place all ingredients in a large pot, making sure the water covers the ingredients with about an inch of water on top. Place large pot on stove top.
Step 5 : Bring to a boil, then add sea salt, cardamom, dill and oregano. Boil for another 15 minutes, taste the broth and add more salt, if necessary.
Step 6 : When butternut squash is completely soft, turn the fire off. Allow to cool for about 20 minutes.
Step 7 : Carefully transfer to blender, making sure to fill only half of the blender canister at a time. There should be both food and liquid for every batch you blend. Loosen the vent hole on top of the blender cover and place a kitchen cloth on top before blending to prevent really hot fluids from splashing.
Step 8 : CAREFULLY blend on smoothie setting once, making sure that the lid is held down firmly.
Step 9 : For the final batch, add the cashews before blending and mix all batches together. Use sliced green onion as garnish.

7-HERB TILAPIA GOODNESS

Tilapia is considered to be one of the best fishes because of its low mercury content. Super easy to prepare, yet delicious enough that you can pretend to have spent hours preparing it. This recipe is a great way to integrate the 7 recommended herbs into your dinner.

6 tilapia fillets, room temperature
1 cup coconut oil, melted
1 bulb garlic
4-inch piece of ginger
cilantro (enough to season all fillets)
rosemary (enought to season all fillets)
basil (enough to season all fillets)
mint (enough to garnish all fillets)
turmeric (dash on each side of fillet)
sea salt (to taste)
1 piece citrus fruit (lemon, lime, orange or grapefruit)

Step 1 : Mince garlic, ginger, basil, cilantro and mint
Step 2 : Take rosemary leaves off stem
Step 3 : Coat all tilapia fillets with coconut oil, then season with garlic, ginger, cilantro, rosemary, basil, turmeric and sea salt. Make sure to get both sides.
Step 4 : Cut citrus fruit and squeeze juice on both sides of fish
Step 5 : Allow to sit for a 20 minutes in room temperature
Step 6 : In low heat, melt the remaining coconut oil in a pan
Step 7 : Place fish, marinade and all into the covered pan. Cook in extra low simmer for 30 minutes.
Step 8 : Serve, pouring sauce over the fish as you distribute
Step 9 : Yell "Tilapia!" as you rejoice in the yumminess

THE ANSWER IS GARLIC!!!

Yes, garlic, that old standby.  It contains some very powerful chemicals that block certain viruses and mutated cells (like cancer) from proliferating in your body.

A whole clove of garlic is, in itself, nothing special.  But once it's been chewed, sliced or crushed, the garlic smells a different story (pun was very intended there folks).  This is because the antiviral properties of garlic is activated when its two main chemical components combine.  So, if you're using garlic to protect yourself from the flu, it's best to ingest it right after its been sliced or crushed.

*For this purpose, I recommend slicing the garlic right before you eat it, then just add it raw to the cooked foods that you are eating.*

If you allow sliced/crushed garlic to sit for a little while longer, don't you fret!  The chemical that is then produced after a period of time is the one that's been proven to inhibit the proliferation of various cancer cells.  So if you're protecting yourself from cancer, or if you're a survivor getting your immunity back in shape, it's best to allow the sliced/crushed garlic to sit for a few minutes before consuming it raw.
